Down Fort Morgan Road in Gulf Shores, AL around mile marker 10, lies one of the hidden secrets of the Alabama Gulf Coast - an uncrowded beach where not only can you productively fish right off the shore, you can also bring your dog.

Just steps from this beach lies the “Seagrass Cottage.” The cottage is nestled at the end of a dead-end street where seemingly hidden stairs magically lead you up to the home. This 3 bedroom, 2 bath house boasts Gulf of Mexico views, the sounds of the surf, and just a few steps to dip your toes in the water.

Located in the private Cabana Beach neighborhood of Fort Morgan, “Seagrass Cottage” delivers stunning views, 2 private decks and all the comforts of home. A parking pass for the private beach parking lot is included and as a guest at Cabana Beach, you are also able to fish off the neighborhood fishing pier across Hwy 180 on Mobile Bay. But why drive anywhere? You can step down under the house and be at the Gulf in minutes.

The house is equipped with 2 decks: the main deck wraps around from the kitchen to the master bedroom and includes loungers and a full outside dining table. Another deck is attached to the second-floor loft bedroom (all the kids’ favorite room). There are 3 sets of French doors in the home to let the sea air in: in the living room, master bedroom & the huge loft bedroom. The Gulf views and breezes must be experienced to be believed! There is also an outdoor shower so you can wash the seawater off or just delight in taking a shower out in the elements (it is private).

This is our favorite area of Alabama and many parts of it are wild and untamed. Some of the wildlife you can see here are dolphins, pelicans, and sea birds, many species of turtles, multitudes of fish, crabs, otters, and yes, even alligators (but not on the beach!). An educational excursion less than ten miles to the west lies the actual Fort Morgan historic site which includes the barracks, canons, and a small museum. This is a great short trip for history buffs and a super way to introduce your children to physical history.

The home features flat-screen TVs throughout (all with HDMI so you can bring your Roku, Apple TV, Xbox, whatever), basic cable, DVD players, and free WIFI.

“Seagrass Cottage” is within walking distance of The Beach Club resort where there is shopping, dining and even a spa. The Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge is also close to the Cottage. And of course, Gulf Shores, 12 miles to the east offers many fine dining establishments, Rouses (the best grocery store ever), and a bunch of tourist stuff, if you’re into that. There is a dedicated grilling area and picnic table under the house. Inside, the dining table can be expanded and there are extra chairs for guests to use. The kitchen is stocked with all the pots/pans/utensils and appliances you'll need. Bed linens, towels & washcloths are all provided.

Do remember to bring beach towels.

A 'starter set' of essentials is included in the reservation. Policies: Guests renting the house must be at least 25 years old. A photo ID is required at check-in.
The property is a non-smoking house.

Dogs are welcome with a $225 non-refundable pet fee per pet.

We could sum up our first trip to the Gulf Shores area with one word, WOW! The Seagrass Cottage was really nice. It was a great home away from home. We loved our stay at Seagrass Cottage! I would definitely book with them again. Plenty of cookware in the kitchen, very comfortable beds. We have little ones, so the washer and dryer were used daily after our beach fun. The walk to the beach was a smidge long for the littles and hauling all of their required items, but totally manageable with trips back and forth or driving a little ways to drop off heavier items along the trail. You do need to bring your own seasonings, are there is no oil, salt, pepper, etc., and no restaurants will deliver to the house (other than one place that charges $30 for a pizza and the other that has odd hours), so have a dinner plan for when you arrive.

This is the first time we traveled with our pups, and this was the perfect spot! The wrap around porch acted as a nice lookout for them, and the sound of the waves was amazing for us, too. Kitchen was small, but had all we needed, and the bunk room upstairs was ADORABLE (bonus 3rdfloor lookout-awesome too! We felt safe, and just close enough to the beach (no driving needed!)It was secluded, and the beach seemed to be JUST for us-miles of perfect sand and turquoise, clear water too! This was a gem, and I hope we get to come back again soon! Open up those doors, and hear the surf all day long!

The owners left us the most adorable Christmas tree to enjoy during our stay. I brought decorations to make our Christmas more festive, but this was a VERY nice touch. The beds and couches were quite comfortable and the loft was terrific. If the weather had been better, we would have enjoyed the decks and beach under the house a lot more - a definite consideration for warmer weather! The only negative was the parking. We found a way to squeeze 3 vehicles but at times had 5 with family coming from various parts of MS & AL and the property manager never returned my calls asking about alternative parking. Location and views were great! I highly recommend this property.

We enjoyed our stay at Seagrass Cottage. The house was clean and plenty of room for the 6 of us. I do wish there was a restroom upstairs in the loft. The walk to the beach only takes a few minutes or you can drive to the parking section that is for the neighborhood only. The beach is my favorite part, since it's a private beach it was never crowded! It's only a 15 minute drove to Gulf Shores.

Great vacation house

This house was perfect for our family of 7. There was plenty of room for everyone. A short walk to the beach. The beach was quite very few people. It was just what we were wanting. The closest big box retailer was 15 miles away. Which was great so there was a lot less traffic. The house was clean and decorated very nice. There were plenty of appliances for the kitchen. This is definitely one of our favorite places now. Will most definitely return and rent this cottage.

We loved Seagrass Cottage. It was the perfect size for our family of five and our dog. The walk to the beach is short and the neighborhood was very quiet. There was also beach access less than 2 minutes from the house if we needed to take more stuff and it was nice that it was a private beach for owners and guests only. The house had everything we could have needed and more. The property exceeded our expectations in every way. Looking forward to staying there again in the future. We also loved that we could take our dog to the beach with us.

My family has been renting beach condos every summer for the past 13 years. Sea Grass cottage has been by far the best one, and not the most expensive. 1. The staff at Poole Associates was so kind, and helpful from my first inquiry of the cottage, through checkout. They answered all my questions about the property, reminded me when balance was due. When we arrived they were friendly and gave clear information. 2. The house was clean, the first thing I do when checking into a condo is go through the entire place with Clorox wipes and reclean everything. I did not feel the need to do this here. The place looked, smelled fresh and clean. 3. I appreciate the cabinets and fridge was clean, emptied of all the previous tenants food items. The second thing I always have to do in a condo is empty out all the food items left behind from the last people in order to put Our groceries away. This is disgusting. I'm not sure if people think the are being nice by leaving their items for next person,or if they are being lazy. I just know I do not want someone's else's used peanut butter, jelly or mayo. Gross! My first hour of vacation is typically spent cleaning. Not here! I was able to go straight to beach. 4. The beach was awesome, the house and service was awesome, best vacation ever!Thank you Poole Associates.

We had a wonderful time. We all very much enjoyed the rental home. The house is so sweet and charming inside! We were having so much fun we stayed for an extra night! During our stay we had one issue with a mattress and the rental company was very nice and quick to help us. We would definitely rent with this rental company again. Spent almost a week at Seagrass Cottage just after Christmas. The house was very nice & homey feeling. The loft looked just as it did in the photos, perfect for two children. The location was nice, close enough to stores & restaurants, yet far enough to be quiet & private. It was a little further from the beach then I would’ve liked, but the walk wasn’t bad. It was rather chilly when we first arrived & we couldn’t seem to get the heat regulated. Notified the office & they sent out a tech who swapped out the thermostat, worked fine after that. Overall a very pleasant experience & stay. Would happily stay there again, but during warmer weather.

Quiet and quaint

We enjoyed our stay at Sea Grass Cottage October 12-17, 2017. The house was clean and cozy, and sits at the end of a quiet cul de sac. There is a narrow, sandy path out the back that leads to an un-crowded stretch of beach following a short, five minute walk. You can also use the house parking permit to drive to the beach, making transporting chairs, etc. much easier than trying to carry much on the path. The house has quite a few steps to navigate when carrying groceries and belongings in and out, and parking more than one car required some ingenuity. It seemed like there were 2 parking spots, but one was overgrown and had trashcans occupying it. The bathrooms are small and the master bath in particular is somewhat cramped, with little counter space, but they are manageable. The living room sofa is a bit worn, but comfortable enough in spite of it's age. The kitchen was well appointed with most everything needed to dine in. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Seagrass Cottage and felt it was reasonably priced based on the amenities, and I would certainly consider renting again.

Secluded beach house with a 2 second walk to the beach. Although we went when it was cold - the outdoor shower would definitely come in handy during the warm months. The huge outdoor balcony is amazing. The also have a smaller one of the second level. Definitely plenty of room and ALL THE DISHES/COOKWARE YOU COULD EVER NEED. Only downfall is if you get into town earlier, its best to wait along the main strip (20 minute drive) because that's where check-in is.

We stayed here for four nights and it was wonderful. The first thing we noticed was how clean it was, and it was fully stocked with anything you may need from pots and pans, to games, movies, and books. The walk to the beach was short and we loved staying here. We plan to book it again in the future.

Perfect in every way

We arrived Saturday, today is Tuesday, and we depart this coming Saturday. I don't need any more time here to give this home a glowing review. The minute we opened the front door, we knew this was going to be a great stay. This is our first visit to the Gulf Shores area. Should we return, we will stay nowhere else but this home. The views of the gulf are great. The layout of the house is excellent with a nice master, an upstairs bedroom that kids would love, and a nice deck to sit out on and enjoy the view and breezes. If you have difficulty using stairs, you would be well advised not to stay here as the home is on stilts and every time you leave and return you have about 20 stairs to descend or climb. The home is well stocked; but more importantly, it is exceptionally clean and in excellent repair. My wife and I have rented quite a few vacation homes over the years (I'm 71 and she is 59); and, there is no doubt in either of our minds this home has delivered the best bang for the buck of any. The rental agents, Poole & Associates were great to deal with and helpful in answering the few questions we had. As the crow flies, this house is 225 yards from the beach. To walk it, it is about 235 yards. I simply cannot imagine anyone not having a great vacation experience at this home.

First Impression of the house while walking up the staircase was "This is gonna be Great".Upon Entering the house we were welcomed with an odd odor that smelled a little like pee, but we figured it just needed to be aired out a bit so we went about our day. (the order never went away)The Upstairs loft of the house was really nice and my kids enjoyed that area.The Pictures sure make the place seem WAY larger than it actually is.Everything worked in the house but the one really big bummer was that there is NO Grill! We had planned on cooking out on the grill on the deck and were extremely disappointed that it was no where to be found.Location from the beach was fairly close and the outside shower was nice to have for the kids to rinse off before coming in the house.Overall the place was decent but I don't think we would stay there again given the price.

Absolutely enjoyed our stay at Seagrass!!The house was very clean and everything you would want for a cute house on the beach. This was our first year coming to Gulf Shores for Hangout Music Festival. The house is about a 25 minute drive to the venue, but the drive wasn't bad at all!! Was actually nice to have the privacy of not being right next to everything. Highly recommend this place!!! Hope to be back soon!

The Seagrass cottage was everything we hoped it would be. There was plenty of room for our family of 7. The well stocked kitchen had everything we would ever need. The walk to the beach wasn't bad at all. The private beach was perfect and wasn't crowded. The only draw back we had is that there wasn't a grill provided, we did have to purchase one since we had planned on it being there. But overall it was fantastic and we would recommend this house to anyone and we will definitely be back!

My fiancé and I stayed at the Seagrass Cottage and absolutely loved it. The home is VERY clean and cozy, it was wonderful to come back to after a long day in the sun. The kitchen was fully stocked with anything you may need for cooking, and there are tons of movies, books, and games to keep you entertained if you decide to spend a night in. Another bonus was the closeness to the beach, the walk was only about two minutes. It was by far the best place we have stayed so far and we hope to come back again next year!

Seagrass Cottage was the perfect place for our vacation. It was right by the ocean, but quiet and restful. We had a wonderful time and so did our dog. Poole and Associates communicated well with us overall. We were pleasantly surprised when we received a call from your company that our cottage was available early. I just wish the fee for our Yorkie dog had been charged with the initial reservation. I was very upfront with the agent that we were looking for a place to stay with an ocean view, ground floor that was dog friendly, and told her we have a ten pound dog. When we arrived at Poole and Associates, the ladies at the desk seemed surprised that we had brought our dog and said we owed more. My only suggestion for improving the property would be to better supervise the housekeeping. The kitchen and bathrooms appeared clean, but the return air vent was brown with dust and it appeared the rooms were just cleaned in the center of the room. Thank you for the service you provide.

We just speant a lovely week in this 3rd row cottage. The description does not do justice to this home-it is stocked and ready for your every need. There IS a dishwasher and sofa sleeper. If you enjoy movies, games, cooking light or full meals-this is the place! The outdoor shower is so handy and a pleasant suprise-twin hammocks below the unit are perfect for napping away an afternoon out of the sun. The loft is huge-and a great place for teenage guests to have their own space. Plenty of linens and start up supplies-so appreciated-and the Poole management staff is very helpful and responsive. Probably our favorite VRBO place to date. It is a bit off the beaten path but so peaceful-worth the short jaunt off the highway to reach it and its just 12 minutes into Gulf Shores proper so no guilt about trips "into town". Nearby farmers and seafood markets in Foley and Loxley are awesome-we gorged on fresh peaches, melon and silver king corn. Sea grass cottage is on our return to list for sure-thank you to the owners for making this home so comfy.
